What Are Some Common Skin Conditions?

We provide treatment for all skin disorders and diseases. Some of the common skin conditions include acne, rosacea, eczema, psoriasis, and rashes, to name a few.

Acne Treatment

Acne is a very common skin condition that affects many people during their teen years; however, this skin disease is not restricted to any age group. Acne may continue into or may even start in adulthood.

Acne causes clogged pores (blackheads and whiteheads) and pimples on the face, neck, chest, back, shoulders, and upper arms. Although acne is caused by several factors, medical treatment can drastically improve the appearance of acne and get rid of it altogether.

Which Treatment Is Best for Acne?

Even though you might think that frequent washing is good for your skin, acne is not a disease that is caused by dirt. Frequent and vigorous cleansing techniques may even worsen the condition. Dr. Wassef uses the latest techniques, medicines, and chemical peels to treat acne and its unwanted effects. Our dermatology treatments for acne are customized for each patient, and we have seen such successful results time and time again!

Eczema Treatment

Eczema is a chronic skin condition that causes areas of red, itchy, and inflamed skin. Eczema usually starts in early childhood and is commonly treated by a dermatologist.

Although its cause is unknown, the condition appears to be an abnormal response of the body’s immune system. Eczema is not contagious. Kids typically grow out of it. There is another variant called adult-onset eczema, which can stem from irritants and allergen factors.

What Is the Fastest Way to Heal Eczema?

An effective, intensive treatment for severe eczema involves applying a corticosteroid ointment and sealing in the medication with a wrap of wet gauze topped with a layer of dry gauze.

Dr. Wassef will examine and determine the best type of long-term treatment for eczema. Contact DCSI for more information on eczema treatment in South Florida.

Rashes, Moles, and Warts

Dermatology & Cutaneous Surgery Institute can diagnose and treat any rash, mole or wart patients might have. Once our team has identified your rash, we’ll offer the treatment options we feel will work best for you.

Moles can appear almost anywhere on the skin. Most are normal. However, some are bothersome and may transform into melanoma. Moles may darken, which can happen after exposure to the sun. If you see any irregularities or changes to your moles, please consult Dr. Wassef and his team.

What Causes Warts and Moles on the Body?

Warts are usually caused by a virus, while moles are usually caused by a combination of genes and sun exposure. Warts can occur anywhere on the body, but they are most common on the hands, fingers, and toes. Moles are most common on the face, neck, and arms.

Warts are areas of skin that grow faster than normal due to viruses. They are actually an HPV infection of the skin. The body will eventually build up a resistance over time to help prevent any future warts. Dr. Wassef offers multiple different treatments and removals for warts.

Psoriasis Treatment

Psoriasis is one of the most common skin conditions and diseases where old skin cells stop shedding, and new skin cells grow faster than normal. As a result, more skin cells begin to build up and start sticking together, causing scaly, dry patches called plaques.

This skin condition can happen at any age, but it is more common in people between the ages of 10 and 30 years old. Many factors can contribute to the buildup of these skin cells, but studies have shown that it is caused by an immune system response in the body. Dr. Wassef will be able to identify and provide you with ample psoriasis treatment.
