Dermal Fillers
Many of the visible signs of aging can be traced back to volume loss in the face. As your facial tissue thins out, lines become more prominent around the nose, mouth, and cheeks. Dr. Mounir Wassef, our cosmetic dermatologist in Wellington and Delray Beach, offers dermal filler treatments to replace the lost volume in your face to create a more smooth-skinned, wrinkle-free you.
Uses for Dermal Fillers
Dermal fillers have been called “liquid facelifts” because they offer the many benefits of a surgical facelift without the downtime. Some uses of fillers are:
- Restore youthful fullness to your face
- Enhance and plump your lips
- Enhance shallow contours in your cheeks
- Soften facial creases
- Smooth out lines around the nose and the mouth
- Improve symmetry in facial features
Pre-Treatment Consultation
To better understand your overall health, our cosmetic dermatologist will evaluate your medical history. A complete examination of your face is performed in order to decipher the most effective injection sites for this procedure on your unique face. All issues, concerns, and your goals will be discussed in your pre-procedure consultation. The areas you wish to be treated with dermal fillers are clearly marked, and digital photographs are taken in order to compare before and after photos, showing clear improvement after surgery.
The Effects of Dermal Filler Treatments
Although they cannot help with excess or sagging skin, these soft tissue fillers can add more volume and provide immediate results at a lower cost than surgery.
Dermal filler treatments are not permanent, so they must be repeated every few months to maintain the anti-aging effects.
Post Filler Information
Depending on the filler being used and the areas you are treating, you should be able to notice immediate results. Some patients may experience mild bruising and swelling, but these side effects are temporary and will subside.
Patients can return to normal activities after treatment but are encouraged to take off a day or two from exercise or strenuous activity.
The Difference Between Dermal Fillers and Botox
While both procedures are cosmetic treatments given through injection, dermal fillers are not the same as neuromodulators like Botox, Dysport, and Xeomin. Dermal fillers contain ingredients that add fullness to the area that have thinned due to aging. Botox contains purified bacteria that freezes the muscles to help minimize the appearance of expression lines.
